More Compatible 
The T.O.V.A. 8 is compatible with Windows XP (32-bit), Vista, and 7. And finally, 15 years after the first T.O.V.A. Mac version, we're pleased to announce that the T.O.V.A. 8 will work with Mac systems, too (running Mac OS X 10.6 or later).
And the T.O.V.A. 8 uses the USB port on your computer, not a parallel port.
Less Rebooting!
One of our most important features is a new way of administering the T.O.V.A. Instead of having to reboot your computer into the T.O.V.A.'s Precision Testing Environment (PTE), you can now administer a test without rebooting. It's called the External Audio/Video testing environment, or "EAV". EAV testing requires an external monitor and speakers, like you would have on a desktop PC. The T.O.V.A. USB device "takes over" your screen, administers the T.O.V.A. test, and then releases it back to your PC when the test is done. It's automatic, it's fast, and it doesn't require rebooting. If you have an external display, EAV testing is the way to go!
Better Accuracy through Calibration
One of the most important changes is monitor calibration. Most people don't know that modern computer monitors—specifically LCD monitors—have intrinsic delays of 10s to even 100s of milliseconds. The new T.O.V.A. hardware measures your monitor's delay and adjusts the T.O.V.A.'s timing.
Calibration is easy and takes less than a minute. The new T.O.V.A. 8 microswitch has a built-in photodiode on the back side. Hold the microswitch up to your screen, as directed, and click the button. After a few flashes, your calibration is finished. Once your display has passed calibration, you won't ever need to recalibrate, unless you replace your monitor or video adapter.
Purchasing Test Credits Online
The T.O.V.A. 8 uses test credits. Every time you complete a T.O.V.A. test, you will be shown a summary of the administered test and prompted to use a credit to retrieve the test data. You will have to use a credit to retrieve the data, which then adds the test to your database. After this you can view the report, export the test data, or even send it to our Clinical support staff for a second opinion. Please note that you cannot administer a T.O.V.A. test unless you have test credits available. Fortunately, we've made this easy: As long as you have an internet connection, you can purchase test credits in a few seconds at the press of a button.
Big Changes to the T.O.V.A. Report!
The T.O.V.A. 8 report has been completely revamped. Color, better graphics, customizable pages, and plenty of new features:
- The Symptom Exaggeration Index (SEI) compares the subject's results to subjects trying to "fake bad" or "have poor effort" on the T.O.V.A.
- Copy Page and Copy Report features allow you to paste the text of the T.O.V.A. Report directly into your word processor.
- There are new Error Graphs and ex-Gaussian statistics.
- You can customize fields to monitor your own subject and session information.
Upgrading Your T.O.V.A.
You can easily stay up-to-date with new features and improvements in the T.O.V.A. 8 software using our automatic update feature. The T.O.V.A. will use your internet connection to download updates, and you can install them at the press of a button. And as usual, these software updates are free.
The state-of-the-art electronics in the T.O.V.A. USB device and the new microswitch are the result of years of research and development. As a thank-you to our current users, we are only charging $295 to upgrade your hardware. This includes a completely new T.O.V.A. kit, including 5 free test credits (a $75 value). New users will pay $695 for the T.O.V.A. 8.
