Schedule

In this one-day workshop, we review Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) as a diagnostic entity in its historical perspective and define commonly used terms, the sub-types, and the diagnostic criteria as set forth in the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual IV (DSM IV TR) and discuss their limitations. After examining the many etiologies of the ADHD symptom-complex and diagnostic procedures, we discuss relevant treatment interventions with specific focus on the use of medications.

We’ll review the important features and uses of continuous performance tests (CPTs) in the diagnosis and treatment of attention disorders, using the T.O.V.A. as our model, and contrasting it with the other commercially available CPTs.

We analyze and interpret, in depth, a T.O.V.A. Interpretation Report and its companion reports, The Classroom and the Home Intervention Reports using the new T.O.V.A. Process Interpretation™. We discuss the enhanced reporting and state-of-the-art hardware used in the upcoming T.O.V.A. Version 8.0 (a free software upgrade for all current T.O.V.A. users) and the new Symptom Validity Index to detect deliberately poor performance and malingering.

We’ll complete the workshop with a number of T.O.V.A. Teaching Protocols illustrating the use of the test in the diagnosis and treatment of ADHD and other attention disorders.
