Here are some helpful hints for the T.O.V.A. auditory test and Soundblaster cards.
If there are no sounds at all when you "hit" the -ENTER_ or -RETURN- in the "Play Auditory Stimuli" option of the TEST Menu, and all cables and devices are securely connected, try the following steps:
- Make sure your hardware is recognized by your system by going to OPTIONS and selecting "Test Scorebox". It should say that your scorebox is "Confirmed" and tell you what version(s) you have enabled on your system. It should say somewhere on that screen..."Visual and Auditory" in order for you to play the auditory test.
If it says "Visual Only" then your T.O.V.A. is not enabled for the auditory version. If you feel this is a mistake, please email for assistance or call 800.729.2886 (562.594.7700), Monday-Friday 7am - 4pm PT.
- Make sure that the setting in the T.O.V.A. program has been changed to play the sounds through the soundblaster card.
The setting is in the "Speaker Selections" option from the OPTIONS menu. The default is "T.O.V.A. Speaker Driver". Select "Soundblaster". Then retry the "Play Auditory Stimui".
Make sure you have a "Soundblaster" or fully compatible soundcard.
Make sure you have a SET BLASTER command in you Autoexec.bat or config.sys files and they are loaded before going in to the T.O.V.A. program. If you are not sure, ask you computer support person or consult your soundcard or computer manuals.
If you have tried and checked everything else above and still have no sound via your soundcard... call technical support (800.729.2886/562.594.7700) or email for assistance. Be prepared to tell them exactly what you have tried and the results.
- If nothing else, try running and/or playing through the supplied T.O.V.A. Speaker Driver and speakers until we can fix the problem.
